Try before you buy

You can try the system on your PC by downloading the latest version - it will provide all the functions except generating targets with a simulator

Download procedure - don't forget to uninstall before re-installing

1. Important: uninstall any previous version before installing a new one - see below.
2. Important: do not attempt to use Version 3 software on a Version 2 system.
3. See the Products page if you are not sure which version of DryFire hardware you have.
4. Right click on the required file and select "Save target" to save it on your hard disk.
5. Find the downloaded file on your hard disk and double click on it to start the installation.

Please follow all the steps in this procedure if you have any reason to uninstall/re-install:

• Use Windows Control Panel to uninstall DryFire and Course Designer.
• Delete the folder c:\program files\dryfire (or the folder where you installed DryFire if different.)
• Delete the file c:\windows\system32\dfgraph.dll.
• Delete the file c:\windows\dfgraph.ini.
• Install the new version.

DryFire: current software for Version 3 (green) simulators

This is a copy of the .EXE installation file on the DryFire CD containing DryFire, Course Designer and USB drivers.

Suitable for version 3 systems shipped AFTER November 1st 2008. 5.0MB

DryFire: update to documentation for calibrating Version 3 simulators

Please download this .ZIP file and extra the files into your "dryfire/dfmanual" folder.

This replaces the part of the User Guide that deals with programming, calibrating and testing the simulator.

Note: these are functions you should not use unless requested to do so by DryFire.

DryFire: earlier software for Version 1 or 2 simulators (grey)

We do not have software for the original Version 1 DryFire hardware - the grey case with a dome and battery compartment.

There have been no updates to Version 2 - the slimmer grey case with no dome or battery compartment.

Unfortunately we lost our version 2 stuff in 2005 because of a nasty virus but an existing customer provided an image of the CD which can be downloaded from here.

DryFire: DTL layout with 25 targets

The DTL layout provided with DryFire offers one shot on each of the five stations.

Right-click here and select "Save target as" ("Save link as" for Firefox users) to save it in your DryFire layouts folder.

When running a complete layout this version offers 5 targets on each station before moving to the next. It will appear in your layouts list as DTL25.

TargetGen: target printing software for rifle shooting

TargetGen is a free and totally unsupported program which will print targets for rifle or pistol shooting.

It was written to create short-range targets - mainly for pistol calibre rifles or for military rifle shooting using scaled-down targets, reduced loads and lead bullets.

Targets can be generated with one, two, five or ten targets per sheet - as shown below..

You can set the outside diameter of the target and the diameter of the aiming mark. You can also select the number of rings. Scoring numbers are shown by default but can be omitted.

The program has been tested using an A4 Epson ink jet printer but it should with any printer.

For larger targets you can either scale up A4 to A3 on a photo copier or use an A3 printer.

Now with added preview!

Following user requests we have added a real-time preview. Each time you change a value the on-screen preview will show you the new layout.

Generating a PDF version of the output

To avoid wasting paper it is strongly recommended that you download and install a free PDF printer driver such as PDFCreator. Once installed this can be selected from the TargetGen printer list and the output will be in the form of a PDF file which can be viewed on-screen.
